Girlschool
Guilty as Sin
release date: November 13th, 2015
label: UDR Music
The long-running New Wave of British Heavy Metal band Girlschool has added another work to an already staggering discography of albums, EPs, videos, splits and singles. Formed in the late 70s, the band's discography features a "holy trinity" of three energetic albums: Demolition (1980), Hit and Run (1981) and Screaming Blue Murder (1982). Today the train keeps rolling with the most recent album. Never a band to waste your time, Guilty as Sin features the rocking style for which people know the band. The songs stay within the 2:30 to 4:00 minute mark. They came here to rock and nothing else. Some of the songs are stompers, while others go in the direction of classic rock, others sound a bit more punk. Regardless, it all sounds like Girlschool. How fitting, then, that the band in November and December of 2015 toured Europe with their longtime friends Saxon and Motorhead. Like other British bands whose roots go back to the 70s, Girlschool has so much experience at what they do, that they make it all sound easy. Of course, it's not. The band even had the temerity to cover a disco song, "Stayin' Alive," on this album. Don't worry, though, it sounds like Girlschool. No need to panic, it's all good. In short, if you support traditional metal and classic rock, the new album will be a great addition to your collection. Now, the only question is: When will they come to the Seattle area?
